Brain retraining success stories

by Julie Genser Hundreds - if not thousands - of people have been using the DNRS™ and Gupta Amygdala Retraining™ programs over the past few years to successfully heal their chemical sensitivity, chronic fatigue syndrome, electrical sensitivity, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, depression, as well as PTSD, OCD and other anxiety related disorders. The large majority of these people have removed themselves from both the virtual and physical "illness communities" they may have been a part of in the past in order to heal and move forward with their lives. Many of these people do not end up coming back to share their stories, as they have moved on from the days of illness and are happily living their lives out with a whole new cast of characters. We're happy for them - thrilled, actually! - but those of us still struggling with brain retraining, or not yet convinced of the efficacy of the programs,...

A multi-sensory approach to red ear syndrome ~ Part 3 of 3

by Kath Before starting you’ll need: • A knowledge of EFT; • An understanding of how EFT works (a must see); • A quiet, undisturbed place, for approximately 30 minutes twice daily; • Persistence, patience and a tolerance for repetition. What this free program provides: • A 3 tier tapping routine which lets you vent and gives your mind direction; • A short tapping routine which lets you see that you have control over RES; • A phrase which tells your mind why it’s time for change; • Links to non-lyrical music which complement this program. Getting started: • Before each session drink a glass of water. • While tapping, listen to this non-lyrical music using ear buds. • Make sure to glance at the accompanying images while reading. • Read out loud with conviction (e.g., hopeful, happy, sad, mad). • Remember to fully exhale between rounds as well as pay attention to any tension in your body. • Repeat the entire Red Ear script including the Reward Sequence,...

A multi-sensory approach to red ear syndrome ~ Part 2 of 3

by Kath I was still finding RES very resistant to change. I didn’t know what my ears were going to do next (be hot, cold, red or turn multiple times throughout the day).  All I knew for certain was that I still had no control over something happening. Day 24: I developed a routine which I’ve called the "Reward Sequence." The first time I used it I was able to stop my ears from turning hot and red three times over the course of an evening. The fourth time my ear tried turning I was too mentally exhausting to stop it from happening. I was elated with my discovery. I now had a tool I knew worked to help stop or at least communicate a message to my brain that I wanted change. Based on my past MCS successes I knew this little routine would become less tiring and easier to use with practice.

A multi-sensory approach to red ear syndrome ~ Part 1 of 3

by Kath Since 1970 I’ve experienced episodes of hot, red ears for no apparent reason. Sometimes both ears turn red, while more frequently, only the left (most often) or right ear turns red. Applying cold cloths never helped; my only recourse was to wait for my ears to cool down on their own. I’d never seen anyone else with this problem. The closest I’d come to believing others experienced it was from having friends and family constantly remind me of the old wives tale that my ears were burning because someone was talking about me. Over the years I had tried everything I could think of to understand what was causing this problem. In my case it wasn’t an allergy to any type of food or drink. I know this because I had systematically removed individual items from my diet in order to observe the results. I seriously thought it was red wine but that...

You’re never too old! Healing MCS, EHS, and CFS in my 70’s

by Linda Worthington My Journey Into MCS, EHS, CFS - and Back “Never take good health for granted!” This has been my mantra for most of my adult life. Could a woman in her 70’s be active, energetic and healthy one year, and almost bed-ridden with debilitating medical problems the next? I would not have thought so, being blessed with good health most of my life, running my own small business, living with my husband and two poodles in our lovely log home, taking 5-15 mile hikes in the Maryland mountains, entertaining friends and traveling whenever and wherever I wished. But suddenly, everything changed. Through a combination of factors, including stress, I developed MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities), EHS (Electromagnetic Hyper Sensitivity) and CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), beginning in the spring of 2009 and reaching my physical and emotional bottom by the summer of 2010. By July of that year I was barely able to function, although I forced myself...

Brain retrainers: Alternative phrases for “Stop, stop, stop!”

Stop, stop, stop!

by Julie Genser

Those working hard to heal from chemical sensitivity, electrical sensitivity, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and related limbic system impairment syndromes through brain retraining programs such as Annie Hopper's Dynamic Neural Retraining System™ (DNRS™) and Ashok Gupta's Amygdala Retraining™ Programme may not be completely comfortable repeating the phrase "Stop, stop, stop!" as part of the neuro linguistic programming (NLP) aspect of those programs. For some, "Stop, stop, stop!" feels too aggressive, and stimulates their fight or flight response - exactly the opposite intended effect. For others, the phrase just doesn't provide enough oomph to divert them away from a trauma loop thought pattern. What to do?! A group of committed brain retrainers from Planet Thrive's Gupta Support Group have compiled a list of alternative phrases to offer some options to those who prefer...

My MCS recovery using DNRS™, EFT and the HAMR technique ~ Part 2

by T-Can republished from T-Can's Planet Thrive blog with permission Technique Two: WHEE I use this technique if I feel I am not getting anywhere with the tapping, humming, and counting alone (I explained in detail how I do this in my previous post), or if I need some variety. A clear explanation of this technique can be found here. This is a simple tool but has helped me release blocks to my healing. For instance, if I am tapping, but have a persistent chemical taste in my mouth, I will stop the tapping and then use WHEE to target the chemical taste. I recommend doing this with a smile on your face. Here is how I do it: 1. Create the set-up. “Even though I can taste chemicals in my mouth, I love and accept myself wholly and completely, and God [Christ/Allah/the Infinite Source etc] loves and accepts me...

My MCS recovery using DNRS™, EFT and the HAMR technique ~ Part 1

by T-Can republished from T-Can's Planet Thrive blog with permission I said in my last blog post that I was going to share with the Planet Thrive Community the brain retraining tools that have been helping me. These are tools that are freely available and searchable on the Internet, and in fact most of them have been mentioned here at PT and that's how I discovered them. I have taken bits and pieces from several different techniques and retrained my brain by implementing the things that seemed to work for me. In two weeks time, by using these techniques I’ve gone from being about 60% better to pushing on 100% cured. The largest improvement happened literally overnight, and I believe was due to a very simple, fast but incredibly powerful technique called HAMR. More about that later. It is my hope that by sharing this information, what I have discovered and used with success...

Does brain retraining work for lyme disease?

by Julie Genser Many new members in the Planet Thrive community have asked this question: Can brain retraining help those with lyme disease and co-infections? My educated guess is that yes, brain retraining can help normalize limbic system function for those with active tick-born infections as well as post-lyme disease. Athough it won't eradicate the infection directly, it may help bring your immune and detoxification systems into a more functional state, allowing your own body to keep the infection in check, or even eradicate it on its own (or with a little help from lyme herbs and/or antibiotics). One of our members, who goes by the username "Writing Girl," has recently posted a summary of all the ways she feels brain retraining has helped her lyme symptoms. It was so inspirational to our members that I wanted to share it with a wider audience. Here is what she posted:
I've found some definite beneficial effects on my...
